Spring has sprung... at least where we live! I know some of you woke up to snow this morning, but we're basking in the sunshine here on the West Coast.
I thought I'd share a few of our favorite Toddler Approved Spring craft and activity posts as we start off the week.
If you done your own version of one of these or tried one of these crafts out, please link it in your comments below. We love seeing different versions of our craft ideas. You guys are always more creative and tweak them in such unique and fun ways!!
PS- Did you do anything to honor World Autism Day yesterday? We read several of our favorite children's books about autism... one of which I'll post about later today.
I also re-read this article at SVMB about autism awareness. I think it presents a great perspective and reminder to be aware of autism always, not just during April. I also loved the comments at the end of the article... because often those of us who are around autism all the time forget that not everyone even thinks about it very much. I often think (like the author of this article) that we don't need awareness, because everyone on the planet knows about autism... but last week just reminded me once again that I am wrong as I talked with some friends.
There are a lot of people who don't know what autism is... or have a very narrow perspective of it (think: Rain Man) and really need to be shown that it is everywhere, that it is a spectrum disorder, that everyone who has it is different, and that it does affect everyone.
If you don't know much about autism, act and get educated. Those of us who are teachers (which is really everyone at some point in their life) will have students with autism or friends who have children with autism... or our own children with autism... and we need to know how to teach and interact with all children (and adults) whether they have disabilities or not.
