A few weeks ago I mentioned that my daughter is attending a little preschool co-op. Each week the moms pick a children's book to spotlight. I love hearing about what she does each week! Next week it is my turn to be the teacher.
Over the past two classes she read some animal books and created two paper bag animal crafts that I thought would be fun to share with you!
Two weeks ago the kids read The Runaway Bunny by Margaret Wise Brown and then they made cute little paper bag bunnies.
This paper sack bunny tutorial from Creative Itch is pretty similar to what they made minus the Easter grass. Inside their bunnies they placed special pictures they drew for people they loved! My daughter was so proud to show me the drawing she hid inside her bunny just for me.
This week the kids read Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See? by Eric Carle and then they created their own life-like story and turned themselves into the animals. They had fun creating their own animal costumes using paper bags. You can find some other paper bag costume ideas here at the Wee Society.
My daughter has spent the rest of the week retelling Brown Bear using different animals that she loves AND using different family member names. I can tell that preschool has been the highlight of her week every week for the last little while.
Hopefully when it is my turn to host preschool this next week she is equally as excited to be there!
Has your child ever done any Brown Bear or Runaway Bunny themed activities? We had a lot of fun with a Brown Bear Color Game a few weeks ago.
Do you have any other favorite animal books we should be reading?
