I am so excited to be participating in a little co-op preschool this year with my daughter. We meet each week for two hours at different houses and moms take turns being the "teacher" while the other moms get two hours to run errands or do whatever they want!
Over the next few months I will occasionally be doing a little Preschool Spotlight and I will share some of the crafts and activities that we do at our little preschool. Many of the preschool crafts and activities will be centered around a specific children's book.
This week for preschool my friend Jen was the teacher and she read the kids Tikki Tikki Tembo by Arlene Mosel.
The kids spent preschool time playing and exploring and also did a simple bean name craft. They also learned the meaning of their name!
Take Home: As a take home project, Jen sent all the kids home with little letter cards to use to practice building their name over the week!
My little one was thrilled that she got to go to school just like her big brother!
Have you ever done a preschool co-op for your kids with friends?
Here are the details for our little preschool...
- We have 4 kids that are age three (or will be three within a few months)
- We meet once a week for 2 hours
- We try and pick a children's book to feature each week and use as inspiration for any crafts or activities.
- Kids are given ample time to play with toys with their friends and then read stories and do simple crafts and activities.
- Each mom teaches in her home for 4 weeks and then we rotate to the next mom.
We just started today, so I'm sure some things will change over the year. I am so excited for this fun opportunity for me and my daughter! She is not ready for a typical preschool with lots of kids, but she is ready for more social opportunities in a small group. My friend Jen has done a similar little preschool with several of her older kids and I am so grateful that she was interested in doing this with our little ones.
Have you ever done any name crafts or activities with your kids?
We shared a few of our favorites that we've collected over on our Name Activities and Crafts Pinterest board.
Great post. Thanks for sharing and keep posting.
I am participating in a preschool co-op this year as well! Our set-up is almost identical to yours – we meet once a week for 2 1/2 hours, except we rotate houses each week. We have 4 moms and kids participating. We have set a loose schedule, also with lots of time for playing and social interaction as well as some crafts and stories. So far we are loving it! I'll be anxious to see what you are doing!
I love your set up! And I can't wait to see your other preschool spotlights. I wish we lived closer–I would love to join your group! 🙂
