As soon as I saw this Map at our local Dollar Tree I knew I had to get it for my daughter. Seeing as she is lately not only obsessed with maps but puzzles as well, I decided to buy two of them so that I could make her a USA Map Puzzle.
I mounted one of the maps on a piece of foam board and attached a piece of sticky back Velcro to each state.
From the other map I cut out and laminated each of the states - then applied the other half of the Velcro. If you are going to laminate them, I'd suggest cutting out the state slightly smaller than the actual borders to allow for overlap after lamination.
My daughter LOVES to play with this. As she picks out a state we review the name and talk about something that makes that state special (she loves identifying the states where her aunts/uncles/cousins live).
We've also had fun listening to/learning this fun song. Was this the song you learned in elementary school or did you learn the 50 States That Rhyme song?
I had a lot of extra room on one of my laminating pages so asked my husband to find something to laminate (so that we wouldn't be wasting any of the paper). I love what he came up with . . .
D-I College Logo & State Match-up
We now have 120 laminated logos (obviously more than we have states on the map). I foresee this map being played with by my husband as much as my daughter!
So cute. I bought one of those maps to hang in our playroom. I love how you used yours to make an interactive map.
That looks great!! Does the dollar store have the maps again? I might have to do one.
