For our 5-A-Day Books Challenge this week, I thought I'd combine some of our most read "train" themed books with some new (to us) ones.
Inside Freight Train by Donald Crews
For those of you who have read (and re-read) Donald Crews' classic book, Freight Train - this is an excellent companion or change up. The sturdy pages of this board book slide apart revealing what is inside each box car on the train.
And The Train Goes . . . by William Bee
A new to us book, with fun illustrations and a catchy rhythm.
Trains by Byron Barton
My son loves any Byron Barton book. His illustrations are always clean and minimal - the text is simple.
That's Not My Train an Usborne Touchy-Feely Book
A sensory approach on trains - great for your little kinesthetic learners.
Chugga-Chugga Choo-Choo by by Kevin Lewis
Another new (to us) book. We abused this other Kevin Lewis book through multiple readings - so I am sure Chugga Chugga will also be a hit in our house. The illustrations are engaging and the text is written in rhyme.
Think that we are going to be making Kristina's Pop Out Choo-Choo
pulling out our Love Train project
and putting together this Family Fun printable steam engine.
Have only seen one of these before but must look them out. "Terrific trains" by Tony Mitton is a real favourite here-couldn't resist mentioning this with a selection of train books!
