The children in our preschool co-op loved hearing the legend of how St. Patrick chased the snakes out of Ireland. The highlight of our class was making "Snake Traps" for snack time.
We layered snakes (gummy worms) with mud (chocolate pudding) and dirt (crushed oreos - their favorite part).
My daughter was still talking about the snakes this morning, so I came up with this simple "St. Patrick Chases The Snakes" collage.
This was a great project because there were several different elements (do-a-dot painting, cutting yarn, gluing) that kept her interest.
We first added dimension to our green construction paper by painting "grass" with a green do-a-dot marker, then added a piece of blue construction paper (representing the ocean).
We next added St. Patrick.
My daughter's favorite part was cutting up the "snakes".
We finished by dotting glue on the paper and randomly placing the snakes on the page.
nice post
I love how you used the gummy worms as snakes! My daughter would love that! She is obsessed with snakes lately! I keep seeing this book—I will need to check it out! Thanks for the compliments about my Birds and a nest project! Thanks for stopping by!
