Is it too late to post more Halloween ideas? On Thursday we talked about Spiders & Skeletons in our preschool co-op.
For our treat we made Spider Cookies. My mother-in-law is famous for this recipe, which she makes at Christmas time, but we figured they would be a perfect spooky snack.
Ingredients:
1 Bag Chocolate Chips
1 Bag Butterscotch Chips
1 Bag Chow Mein Noodles
Place chocolate chips and butterscotch chips in microwave safe bowl and heat until chips are melted (I usually heat for 30 seconds, then stir, and keep repeating till melted). Stir in chow mein noodles. Drop by spoonful (or handful) onto waxed paper and set till hardened. The cookies may not look the prettiest, but I wouldn't say spiders look pretty either - don't be fooled - these taste AMAZING!
Warning: This is a very messy project for toddlers - but that's half the fun of it right?
We also had fun putting together this skeleton puzzle as found on Chasing Cheerios, and used part of that skeleton as a template to make freezer paper stenciled shirts.
yum those cookies sound tasty!
