We're setting a goal again this week to participate in The Imagination Tree's 5-A-Day Books Challenge. Some weeks we just do book related activities, but don't read all five books every day. This week we will definitely be reading each of our books every day.
Last week we got our Scholastic Book order and we have been immersed in books ever since. I love new books and so does my son! The Nursery Rhyme Readers set has been a favorite.
I had my little guy pick his five favorites, so we'll be reading the following little books this week...
1. Jack and Jill
2. Little Miss Muffet
3. It's Raining, It's Pouring
4. Hey Diddle Diddle
5. Mary Had a Little Lamb
Each book has 8 pages and is compact and easy for my son to hold all by himself. By the end of the week, I know he will be reading to me every time and probably won't want me to touch the books!
Here are some of the nursery rhyme activities/crafts that we've done in the past will go right along with these books...
Snip and Punch Jack and Jill Pail
I'm sure we'll be coming up with some more as we go this week.
Do you have any favorite activities that you've done or seen around that go with these 5 books?
If so, pass them along!! Whenever I do crafts/activities along with reading, it is amazing how much more of the story and vocabulary words my little guy understands!
I'm linking this post up at the Imagination Tree today.
I think my kids would love the rewriting nursery rhymes idea! I can picture us giggling already, thanks.
