I hate throwing away scraps of fabric because I can always find some use for them, like this Mitten Matching Game we use with our flannel board. I simply cut out the shape of "pairs of mittens" (of various sizes) from scraps of fabric and sewed them to a felt backing.
We have come up with several different variations on how to play this game. First, we mix up all of the mittens and then match them up on the flannel board.
Sometimes I will make a sequence with one mitten and have my daughter follow the sequence. We also like to sort the mittens by size (my camera battery died before I could get a picture of this) color and texture.
You could easily make this game using colored construction paper or scrapbook paper (I would recommend laminating the pieces or mounting them on foam board) or if you already have a collection of real mittens/gloves you can have your child sort and match those.
