[[This school year, a friend and I have been taking turns teaching the letters A - Z to our children using the Confessions of a Homeschooler Letter of The Week Curriculum. As the year progresses, I thought I'd share a few of the fun things we do as we learn and review our letters.]]
The Letter B Target Practice - I wanted to come up with some engaging ways to help the children identify the difference between uppercase and lowercase "B". Inspired by Kristina's Target Practice idea, I drew upper and lowercase B's (in varying colors) on paper plates and fixed them to our chalkboard. I would call out a case and color and the child would have to throw the ball at the corresponding plate.
The next game that we played was an uppercase/lowercase ball drop. I drew upper/lowercase B's on several ping pong balls - had the children stand on a chair and drop the balls into baskets (placed on the floor below) with the corresponding letter case. Prior to dropping the ball in, we would repeat the letter and case out loud.

I printed out these pictures and mounted them on felt for a fun Flannel Board Activity
I love hearing Bill Martin Jr. read this story!
What a great idea! I have a 2 year old and no preschool and a few weeks ago came up with a similar concept to doing a letter a week! What fun ideas on how to distinguish lower and upper case! Thanks!
