We've been having fun trying out the activities in John Bowman's book, Help Your Preschooler Build a Better Brain. One of the "Independence Activites" that has been a favorite is "Fabric Folding". Mr. Bowman suggests marking lines on the cloths (as a guide for where your child will fold), demonstrating first how to fold the cloths yourself, and then letting your child try. My daughter has LOVED practicing with these, and we have incorporated a whole world of imaginitive play using them as well.
You could simply use washcloths and a marker to make these, however I recently acquired a serger and needed a reason to try it out. These cloths are double sided with serged edges, and instead of "drawing" on the lines I used a lighter colored decorative stitching for the guide lines.
I decided to make an extra set of 5 as a prize for the runner-up in our giveaway!
The winner of the Book & CD Giveaway is:
The Jones Family! - who said, "How neat!! I'm a stay at home mom to a 3 year old and 1 year old (previous EC-4 teacher) and planning on home schooling so this is perfect!!!"
The winner of the Fabric Folding Set is:
Laura - who said, "Oooh, I would love to win this. I have a 3yo that I want to do preschool activities with instead of sending her to a traditional preschool".
