No matter where you are from, a Coat of Arms is a fun way to share a little bit about yourself. Traditionally, any person marrying into the British Royal family needed a coat of arms. Each prince and princess living in our house will have their Coat of Arms hanging as we celebrate the Royal wedding. This is also a fun collage to do with students at the beginning of the year to learn more about them!
Materials Needed: pictures of favorite things, colored cardstock, Coat of Arms template (here), scissors, glue, tape.
Directions:
1. Print out template onto colored cardstock and cut it out.
2. Glue onto another piece of cardstock.
3. Cut out from magazines or print off pictures of favorite things from online. We sat down and my son told me favorite things, I Googled them, and then we printed them out (after cutting and pasting them into a Word Doc).
4. Glue images onto the Coat of Arms.
5. Let dry.
6. Add hooks (using scraps of paper and tape) to hang your Coat of Arms on a big stick or dowel.
7. Display!! This is a great way for your party guests to learn a little bit more about you!
* I loved how this activity got us talking together about our favorite things and using descriptive language.
Love, love, love this idea!! It is so creative!
