Happy Sunday! I apologize for this grainy camera phone photo, but it's the only one I got of the two of us on our Amazing Date last night.
I had an awesome post to share with you today, but this week has been crazy with my husband on a guys baseball/golfing trip and then a business trip all week, so I didn't get a moment to finish it. I'll plan to share it on Monday instead.
In the meantime, I had to tell you about our date night last night. My friend hosts "The Amazing Date" each March. It is like The Amazing Race, but for teams of couples. She had over 50 couples involved. We joined up with one of our favorite couples tonight to compete... in the rain.
It was awesome. We did zumba, solved puzzles running around in the rain, got fake tattoos, went bowling, played dodgeball, launched water balloons, jumped into pools, ate disgusting food, and my husband even got to run around a field in one of these.
I was exhausted when I got home, so instead of finishing my other post, I headed to bed.
Would love to hear about any exciting or just fun dates that you and your spouse have gone on?
How do you make time for one another?
Do you feel like dating your spouse/significant other is an important part of your relationship?
Does spending time with your spouse impact the way that you parent in any way?
I found your website through Pinterest, so many great articles! I love this Amazing Date idea and would love more info so I could start something like this in my area. Can you post a little more about how she got it started and how many years she's been doing it before it's grown to 50 couples? It sounds like so much fun!! Thanks!
This sounds like so much fun! It reminds me a bit of a yearly event my husband and I participate in with friends, though I've never considered it a "date" (I probably should, though). We participate in a 24 Hour Video Race every year in May, from midnight Friday night to midnight Saturday night. Teams get one hour to plan, script, shoot, edit, and turn in a 5 minute (or less) movie that include the assigned theme, prop, location, and line of dialog (revealed at midnight Friday night). We've done this every year since the first year of our marriage (going on 11 years). The kids stay the whole weekend with hubby's dad and stepmom. They have fun and so do we. Though, we're completely exhausted at the end of it. LOL
My husband works as a family minister, this "Amazing Date sounds like a great idea for the couples at church! Can you tell us more about how it worked? Thanks!
Dixie- here's my friend Tiffany's description about the activity in her invite-
The Amazing Date is an exciting, fun, irreverent crazy game in which teams of four people (2 couples), race around the city in competition with other teams. Contestants strive to arrive first at each leg of the race for a chance to win prizes and to avoid coming in last, which carries the possibility of elimination. Contestants travel to and within multiple destinations. The clues provided in each leg lead the teams to the next destination or direct them to perform a task, either together or by a single member. Teams are progressively eliminated until the team that arrives first in the final leg is awarded a grand prize.
You can be creative based on where you live. Each couple had to pay $40 for ours which went towards the cost of renting different things/using gym facilities (human gerbil ball, zumba instructor, etc) but you could make it be much cheaper if you wanted.
Thank you so much for the info! It sounds like it really works like the show! Fun! Now I'll have to start brainstorming ideas in our small town!

We never get to go on dates either. Even when we have a willing babysitter we are too tired by the end of the day to go out. My mother has offered to babysit soon so we can go out for a leisurely breakfast – I am looking forward to that.
Wow! That sounds like a super amazing date 🙂 And what a fabulous idea for a competition!
Great Post! My husband and I went out too last night. We went to a restaurant at 9:00 and couldn't believe that people were there! ha ha! We swap nights with with a friend. We get them in bed and she hangs out here. It works great! 🙂 Love the amazing date – need more info!
My hubs and I never really go on dates. (I know we should try to make it happen more often but it seems like it just never does.)
Our anniversary is Jan 8… which means that every year on Jan 2 (after all of the holiday uproar) we go "Oh no… next week is our anniversary, do you feel like planning anything?" "Nope." "Me either."
So this year I told my sisters that all I wanted for Christmas was an anniversary date. Nothing fancy or expensive… just a night out that we didn't have to plan or pay for. (December is so expensive)! 🙂
They gave us dinner and bowling… and it was perfect. I know just what I want next year.
And ummm…. tell me more about this Amazing Date! Sounds like so much fun!
