My kids love jingle bells. This year I found some oversized colored ones at Target and had to buy them. I am tired, my house is a disaster, and my kids are arguing A LOT lately... so I'm loving any activity that gets my kids creating or being active so that we have a positive and happy environment in our house. 🙂
This week we did two simple activities with our jingle bells that both my toddler and preschooler loved- a jingle bell toss and jingle bell painting!
Materials Needed to do these activities:
- jingle bells (at least one... though more is more fun)
- washable paint
- some cardboard boxes (Amazon has been delivering non-stop here lately, so we had tons to choose from)
- paper
- masking tape
Here's how you play...
(disregard my son's outfit... I let him choose his own pjs)
Jingle Bell Toss:
Find an area where you have plenty of space and put one or more boxes on the floor.
A few feet away from the boxes put a masking tape line on the ground.
Grab your jingle bells, stand behind the line, and start tossing the bells!
You can easily turn it into a competition with a friend to see who can get the most bells in the boxes... or put several boxes at different levels or distances and see who can get their bells in the boxes that are deemed the hardest to reach. We did this bell toss activity a few years ago when my son was a toddler. My daughter liked it just as much today. Definitely a fun activity!
Jingle Bell Painting
This activity is just like marble painting except you use a jingle bell.
Start off by grabbing a box and putting some paper inside.
Next, squirt some paint on the paper and toss a jingle bell into the box.
Move the box from side to side and make the jingle bell roll around to create a pretty painting!
Pull the paper out to dry, put another one in the box, and paint some more! This activity is addicting!
So fun! We need to try this!!!
Very cute post. I had never thought of using a jingle bell for roll painting. The noise would make it even more interesting. I hope you are feeling better and have a MERRY CHRISTMAS.
Thanks Susan! Hope you have a Merry Christmas too!
